It's all about the Money Money Money

The financial aspect of things can be really daunting. Many of you would be wondering how much it costs to move to Australia.

Let me do my sums and I do welcome people who actually stay in Australia, Canberra to correct me on this. I really have no idea, but this is what I expect for the first year, and subsequently after we get a job.

Car: $30,000

House Rent: $2000 x 12

Food and household expenses: $1500 x 12

Miscellaneous stuff in Singapore: $2500 x 12

Total $102000

Car: $80,000 if brand new.

House Downpayment: 20% (eg. $100k)

House Purchase Miscellaneous fees: $35000

Food and household expenses $1500x 12

Miscellaneous stuff in Singapore: $2500 x 12

Total: $260000

As you can see, moving there is no simple feat. So much to do, and lots of costs incurred. Sometimes it makes me half-hearted, wondering if this is the right move for us. When all our peers are rat-racing here, there we are spending our time effort money on a dream that may not be all that we imagined. And when we return with tails between our legs to Singapore, everyone would be in their posh property driving sleek cars, with kids so intelligent we would then be compelled to regret our move. Emo, emo.  Yet on the other hand, life is an adventure!

Some people actually think that it is a YOLO phase for us. No, it isn't! The "You only live once" so "just do it" mentality is pretty dangerous if you are taking steps towards certain goals. It's just gonna derail you! We actually made calculated decisions and so we are going!
